-Listing is for One-
Handbuilt from translucent porcelain, this vessel captures the intricate architecture of the crayfish shell. The repeated shell impressions wrap around the vessel in rhythmic layers, creating a surface that feels both marine and botanical - echoing petals, scales and forms shaped by the tides.
The form is rooted in a personal memory: it was inspired by a crayfish shared during a family meal in Tasmania, marking my mother’s 80th birthday on her last visit. That moment of gathering, place, and celebrations held within the work, now translated into porcelain and light.
By day, sunlight passing through the porcelain softly illuminates the shell impressions, revealing the extraordinary detail and delicate structure of the original material. As evening falls and the vessel is lit from within, the porcelain begins to glow, transforming the layered textures into a luminous study of pattern, translucency and light.
Each vessel is individually handbuilt, finished, and is entirely unique, with the subtle variations in form, shell placement, and translucency reflecting both the handmade process and the natural variations found in the shells themselves.
Designed as both sculpture and light object, the piece brings warmth, atmosphere and a sense of the sea into the home.
